Tis possible but very very hard D; I'm not sure how it works in Canada x3 but in Cali the best place is to associate with people in LA a lot and hope one person takes interest in you. I believe your art is amazing enough and your idea's are unique enough to catch the interest of all the local, and non-local, famous "starving" artists c: good luck!
Sure it'd be possible, probably nowhere near as easy to attract customers at first, though. (I never liked the idea of commissions because it'd take a lot of the fun out of art for me, but profiting off your own ideas would be a lot more enjoyable (if not art-block-inducing) imo.)
Things like T-shirt designs are the most obvious (I just spent like $500 on shirts, 'cause I loved the art, it's something I feel that represents me, and it's something I'd use 16+ hours a day.)
What shits me though, is that you see all of these cool shirt companies, but I never see any badass animal designs on pants - it's only ever stripes/spots/animal prints, and just boring, shitty-ass self-advertising labels like Adidas. For me it's usually a choice between Slazenger and Puma, but what I'd really like is a fucking leopard coiling around one leg with it's head poking around from the hip. (There'd be little to no competition for clothes like this.)
Tattoos and prints are too easily ripped (and kinda generic/lame, I guess). Merch that can't easily be replicated on a consumer level is the most ideal. Clothing, key chains, artsy-fartsy-earrings, Mugs, weird-ass-cute-little-animal-pictures-that-you-can-stick-to-your-finger-nails-with-transparent-nail-polish.
You know what would be awesome to hang on your wall? Some weird, magical chemical that grows into coloured faux fur. XD You can sketch something out on the panel, colour it in and then watch it grow into a fluffeh, somewhat-3D picture! (I'd fucking love something like that, I'd have shitty-looking fuzzy-ass-pictures all over my walls. <3 ... though the next best thing would be for a skilled artist to draw up cool designs and then hire some textiles company or whatever to manufacture/stitch/thread appropriately-coloured faux fur through the base image template.)
Just match innovation with creativity and you'll probably succeed. People like "unique". :3
..Man, I dribble a lot of shit. XD

Totally possible. There's people all over the web doing that, and doing it at conventions and such as well. Some people even do art books, and themes. Just get out there and offer prints, on Etsy like another user said is a great jumping off point. People are on DA, and it's pretty easy just to have a stock of prints on hand and ship them out in envelopes to people when they purchase them. Usually between $10-20, and you can get them printed at Staples or any store that does printing. Smaller versions like post cards are always fun for people as well, and personally I love smaller prints because they're cheaper (to both print, and for me to buy) and I can fit a ton on my wall.
Good luck! You can do it, it's very very easy to market this sort of stuff.
