Hey so I've been dealing with this alot lately and I really needed to make a broad statement about it.

I may have misused the term, as I'm not a celebrity or a famous person. But as a business/commission artist, I think it still counts as a descriptor.

Now, sometimes a customer or client follows me and I will follow back because I want to support the people who support me.

Whether it is for this reason, or that I sometimes use discord to communicate (updates about their art, questions about the characters they want, etc) clients keep trying to break the professional boundary I place and call us friends.

They keep saying we're best friends, good pals, etc and I am not good at enforcing boundaries so I try to gently remind them and then stop trying. (My own fault, I know.)

But these things make me extremely uncomfortable. You pay me to draw, I draw. This does not make us friends. Neither does following you back to support your art or account. I do not have the energy for friendships at this time and do not appreciate one sided relationships forced onto me.

So if you are an active or future commissioner, please, please do not assume we are friends and please stop forcing this onto me. I am a professional artist, not a buddy.
