"Part arts festival, part social experiment--this international contest is decided solely by public vote.
The event is designed for you to take it into your own hands and make it what you want it to be.
The outcomes of ArtPrize are infinite. What will you bring to the equation?" -Artprize.org

FAQ about the "Come Dream With Us" ArtPrize Exhibit
11 years agoArtPrize is a three-week-long international art competition located in Grand Rapids, MI, where half of the prizes are awarded by a panel of judges and the other half are determined by public vote. www.artprize.org
-Why Should I Enter?
To our knowledge, there's never been an attempt as big as this to bring together some of the most creative minds in anthropomorphic art. We want to see just how big this can get and, hopefully, win some prize money for our efforts.
-Do I have to use my real name?
No. The entry will be registered under "The Anthro Arts Collective" and your real name does not have to be tied to it. We may only require your real name should any prize money be won.
-What kind of Artwork can be entered?
Any kind! It can be a drawing, a statue, a musical arrangement, a special fursuit, any combination of the above, or something completely different altogether. There are only three rules (and a couple suggestions):
1. The artwork cannot infringe on any third-party copyrights (no Pokemon, Disney, etc.). Original characters (or permission to use another person's non-copyright-infringing character) only.
2. Artwork must be family-friendly/considered "PG-13". (Tasteful nudity is allowed, extreme gore and explicit sexual situations are not. If you're not sure, send a description or sketch of your idea to us and we'll let you know if it's acceptable.)
3. Artwork should tie in with the theme of dreams and dreaming. The piece does not have to be brand new as long as it fits the theme.
Suggestion 1: We think it would be interesting to have a "thought bubble" be a recurring element in most or all of the pieces. This is not a requirement though; we don't want anyone to feel like they have to tweak a pre-existing piece if they don't want to.
Suggestion 2: Be creative with the theme of dreams and dreaming. Not all dreams happen while we're asleep, nor are they always pleasant.
-What if I can't travel to Grand Rapids?
As an artist, you're not required to attend ArtPrize to be eligible to compete, but your piece must be able to arrive in Grand Rapids prior to ArtPrize and remain there for the duration of the competition.
-Can I sell my Artwork at ArtPrize?
Yes, in fact we encourage it. ArtPrize doesn't take any sales commissions (though our venue might; we'll let you know if that's the case), so you'll be able keep the whole amount you sell your piece for. Let us know if you want to sell your piece when you submit it and we'll help you jump through the necessary hoops. (Just note that should the installation win the Grand Prize, all sales will be considered void.)
-I want to come see ArtPrize, but hotels are expensive!
That's ok! If you're from out of town and you're registered as an ArtPrize artist, you can seek out free housing offered by ArtPrize volunteers. All the info for that is here: http://www.artprize.org/get-involve.....-opportunities. If you're going to be in town for our ArtPrize furmeet, we have a couple of hotel rooms booked for Saturday night and are more than willing to share. Just let us know ahead of time so we don't accidentally cancel them and then find out that someone needs a room.
-I'm not an artist. How can I help support this?
If you're able to come to Grand Rapids, you can register to vote for "Come Dream With Us" (and any other piece at ArtPrize that strikes your fancy) and help us win one of the public vote prizes. If you're a fursuiter, you can enter yourself as a performance piece (venue size permitting) and interact with the crowd. You can also join us for our yearly ArtPrize furmeet the first weekend of ArtPrize.
If you're not able to come to Grand Rapids, you can show your support by spreading the word about our exhibit through Facebook, Twitter, elaborate smoke signals or whatever way you'd like to communicate. You can also donate to our upcoming IndieGoGo campaign and receive perks for supporting us.
-So what would happen if we won?
If we win any amount of prize money, it would be awarded in one lump sum for us to do as we please, whether we decide to divide it or donate it to charity.
If we win the Public Vote Grand Prize, some of the pieces from the installation may be kept to be displayed in an encore exhibition at the Grand Rapids Art Museum that would run through ArtPrize 2015. Any pieces up for sale would also have their sales voided.
-Ok, I'm convinced. I want to submit a piece. What do you need from me?
Awesome! All you need to do is note us with the following information:
Artist's name:
Title of piece:
Medium:
Size of piece:
Description of piece:
Special requirements (A/V, lighting, etc.):
Sketch (optional):
Is it for sale? Y/N If for sale, what's the starting price?:
If the piece is not completed, would you offer a spot in the piece as an IndieGoGo perk? Y/N
Thanks for your interest!
