Hound Pound - Prologue
BEFORE WE BEGIN,
- Please do not be mean abt this lmao. I am not a great writer, this is my first actual story!
- This is gonna be a murder mystery about dogs
- They are dogs btw
THE WRITING
Luna woke up from her sleep. She smelt the odor of mice, but she also smelt something unusual… A human. She got up from the box she slept in. The alley was full of trash, and rats and mice infested the narrow walkway. It was late at night, but she awoke from a loud car sound.
The other alley dogs didn’t seem to care much. They woke up, but not for long. Luna was a bit worried, but she also was curious, so she made the decision to see what the sound was. She didn’t know if this was a good decision, but she went through with it.
At the end of the long, narrow passageway there was a van. It was blue with yellow words. The words read “Animal Control.” The van had big, bright headlights that created an eerie white light. She continued to walk, even though she could tell it was a bad idea.
The unsettling light seemed to draw Luna closer. It was odd, because she didn’t usually pay much attention to cars or things passing in the night. While she would open her eyes and look around, she normally didn’t get up unless it seemed like something that threatened her. The van didn’t seem like a threat. It just seemed odd.
As Luna got closer, she heard a sound. The sound of an opening door. The woman in the bakery next to the alley came out and walked to the van. A man walked out of the van, and the two people began to talk. The woman seemed angry and kept pointing to the alley. Luna crouched when the large man pointed his flashlight in her direction.
The man nodded at the woman and walked into the alley. Luna ran to the back of the walkway. The man saw the motion and ran after her. Luna had no choice. She had to run towards the man, as she was cornered. She darted forward, through the man’s legs. She ran out onto the street and went left. However, the man was chasing after her.
Luna fled from the large man chasing her. Her body cut through the air. Her paws were dark in the moonlight and splashed in the rain puddles. In bright yellow, the words "Animal Control Officer" appeared on the back of the man's navy blue vest.
The man caught up to Luna quite quickly. He was fast for a human. She ran as fast and as quickly as she possibly could. The man got only a few inches away, and she knew she wasn’t fast enough. She had to try, though. If she wanted to keep her life, she had to run. She had to go as fast as she could. However, he was able to catch up to her and grab her. She was a larger dog, so the fact that he could pick her up was seemingly impressive. This scared her, though, because now she knew he was strong enough to hurt or kill her.
She was panicking, and all she could do was try to jump from his grasp. She barked and yelped, but no one came to her aid. The man put a muzzle on her mouth. She was dragged into the large blue and yellow van. She was in the car for about ten minutes, and was taken to a dog pound. It was the scariest ten minutes of her life.
When she got into the dark and scary place she shook her fur to get the rain off. She started to feel even more nervous. She began to panic more when the man picked her up and put her in a room with a large group of dogs. One of them seemed to be the leader, as he was on the biggest and highest up bed. He smiled at her, and didn’t even seem to try to scare her off or intimidate her. He seemed like a kind, strong leader. Little did she know, this would be the start of something big.

My world exists in a catmosphere. Life without cats would be a cat-astrophe!
