Big ol' Artist Plug
Posted 8 years agoBeen a while - but been fairly busy whipping up material, so expect to see some new stuff roll out soon!
In the interim though encountered some really interesting folks I'd like to share with you guys.
Summer Stand Out: Cid
Cid's probably better known here on FA for their vore portfolio, but their digital art and world building skills are top notch and increase daily. They really impressed me with the volume and quality of work they produced this summer. An accomplished art student, they frequently share the products of their lessons and practice. If you were ever curious what it takes to be a professional illustrator - then give them a glance to see what kind of things you should expect having to learn along the way.
https://twitter.com/WallStaringCat
If you're the commissioning sort though, the artists below will especially intrigue.
Armaina
Armaina was an interesting find I stumbled across on twitter but has an extensive portfolio pixel creations and digital art. They are responsible for my current art and work blazing fast. I was absolutely stunned by the quality and turn over of my commission. I strongly encourage you to give their galleries a look through.
http://armaina.tumblr.com/
https://twitter.com/armaina
https://www.weasyl.com/~armaina
Battlehog
Battlehog is a real media / digital color combo that renders some truly impressive results. They work at an admirable pace and the quality of their products are simply jaw dropping. I was stunned to have only encountered them when I did, because they certainly deserve more recognition than what they currently sport.
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/battlehog
https://www.weasyl.com/~battlehog
Faeseiren
Fae's been promoted by me before but its a plug thats worth repeating. Her quality and work improves with every iteration. A very chill artist with a diverse skill set, her accomplished digital painting submissions always has me coming back for more.
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/faeseiren/
Guarazu
This artist does some of the most technically impressive real media pieces I have seen this side of Scale. Their armor commissions are gorgeous and their full illustrations are jaw dropping. They woefully undercharge for the quality of work they produce. If you are a fan of fantasy or steampunk then their gallery definitely ought to appeal - although I have no doubt they would entice any visitor to their expansive gallery.
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/guarazu/
Stablercake
Stabler has one of the most diverse real media portfolios and distinctive style I have come across in my time gallery wandering. Ranging from preposterously cool prints and stickers to wood cuts prime badger material - if you want it, they've got it or will hand craft it personally for you. An absolute joy to work with, they are one of the most professional individuals I've had the pleasure of commissioning.

On the Topic of Dog Eat Dog [DeD]
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone! I just wanted to clarify a few details since recent notes, ask.fms and various questions from people have revealed that some confusion exists.
Fauxlacine's 'Dog Eat Dog i.e. [DeD] Worldsetting is a fairly realistic interpretation of anthromorphic struggles to fit their inherent natures within the confines of society, set to the background of a post-industrial society. It is also her IP - which she has generously shared by inviting various writers and artists to utilize the setting in their own, similarly themed works. It is a great community that I encourage you to check out if you are unfamilar with it and enjoy horror set in the modern day.
However I just want to remind everyone
Fauxlacine and I are two different people!
I certainly don't own DeD - and although sometimes we collaborate on ideas, our interpretations and characters are very different from one another. Everything I do is derivative. The events I write about are merely interpretations of what I think might occur in that setting with various characters in various scenarios. Sometimes, by chance, my writings are similar to what becomes canon (but very much more often, it is not).
As I intend to start writing more non-commission and 'serious' stories in the future - I merely wanted to clarify that the works I do should not be confused with Fauxlacine's developing world setting. There may be cross overs and similarities - but you should always refer to her setting and her references over my own when it comes to DeD.
I look forward to showing off more of my authorship in the coming new year - heres to hoping it'll be a great one!

#MacroMonday Post
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone - just here to clarify some details about the ongoing #Macromonday series.
#Macromonday is a donation driven series drawn by
Fauxlacine and narrated by myself. It is a fun little ongoing project, involving Faux’s character, Evelyn Lacine and my own, Sofia, engaged in a little bit of a non-canon growth and consequent macro rompy rampage. The series a fairly cheeky, PG-13 to Mature rated piece (although don’t expect anything terribly explicit, if the censoring of anatomy hadn’t clued you in already).
Unlike standard donation driven series there is no incremental system in place; just an exploration of a fun concept and the recommendations fans give us. Every week we aim to for a flat goal of 60.00 USD – and if the goal is reached a new piece is posted the follow Monday. A running story for the series is catching up slowly as I scribble it into being – you may have seen to first few posts on FA already!
If you like the series and would like to keep up with it you can get it right at the source by following Fauxlacine on her twitter: https://twitter.com/fauxlacine where she also hosts numerous free raffles for her fantastic art. Even if you don’t like #Macromonday, definitely worth giving her a watch just for cool content and freebie opportunities.
As a reminder - the series is donation driven. All the funding goes to Fauxlacine, who takes time from her weekly schedule to draw it. I just manage money as a slightly biased neutral party. If you like the series and want to keep it going, considering chucking a buck to https://www.paypal.me/zakuratech/ with the comment #Macromonday.
We acknowledge donators and keep a day-to-day display of the current weekly donation drive at the #Macromonday Trello hub, which is updated regularly. You can view the entire series there if you wish.
Feel free to subscribe for notifications of progress. https://trello.com/b/8CZNa4ga/macromonday
If you cannot donate but still want to support the series, consider favoriting, retweeting and sharing the series, this journal or the Trello page to your friends. Recommendations for new directions are always appreciated and are taken into consideration as well as the series progresses.
If you have a fairly specific theme in mind, consider waiting for Fauxlacine to open for her Wing It style commissions which are done in the same coloured sketch style as the series. If you get a #macromonday themed piece from her I will gladly write a story component for it if you would like free of charge. She has permission to use Sofia at your request (and her discretion) for any #Macromonday styled stuff since I know she will not misuse the character.
Thank you for all your support in this series thus far! Viewers like yourself make fun, interesting projects such as these possible. See you next Monday!

Will Sofia be at AC?
Posted 9 years agoNo. She will not.
- but in other news I will be re-opening for commissions shortly after a TOS update and a short move.
If you have an outstanding commission with me, shoot me a note or email at zakuratech32@gmail.com.
Also expect a resumption of posting around Sunday as well for those of you who survive your con going adventures. I have such wonderful stories to share with you all and I am sure you look forward to more social discourse, a pale horse and microfauna abuse, of course.

Ask Me (Or Sofia) Something
Posted 10 years agoWhile I recent considered ask style question styles to be a shameless method of self-promotion,
fauxlacine and a few others have had some success with it in terms of yielding interesting questions and inspiring unique inquiries [with plenty of story making and art potential]. Being the shameless bandwagon hitchhiker I am, I couldn't resist making one myself.
If you are inclined to ask me (or Sofia) something, feel free to at the following link;
Ask ZakuraTech
If you want Sofia to answer a question, please include the tag Dear Sofia, or IC: or something to that end so I know to differentiate answer perspectives. I may not answer questions if that would reveal a spoiler about upcoming content.

More of the Same
Posted 10 years agoLo there everyone,
As you may notice, my account is somewhat bare at the moment from a recent cleaning out of virtually all my submissions and journals. This is due my previously noted desire to better establish a story and more regular update schedule.
By popular request I will be uploading some of the scrapped story elements [most of the macro Sofia content], before I start on the story proper. Not all of the work I took down will be reuploaded here, though if you contact me on the side or in comments I don't mind sharing it with you.
ZakuraTech Survey Data will be moved to Supplementary_Information
This is mostly so people can access that data without wading through gore and other things on this account.
I am uncertain if I will continue to host or generate new ZakuraTech surveys, due to increasingly underwhelming responses and lack of interest. I have contemplated an off-site raffle type idea to promote interest, but I have a feeling this will be frowned upon by the moderation. If in the meantime I am still receiving requests and ideas for possible surveys / polls - so if you have an interesting idea please send them my way.
I will continue to take on characters for inclusion in story related content, although the guidelines for this will change somewhat. Due to costs of commissioning and difficulty portraying some characters, stricter requirements per-piece will be made and those who submit their characters may be asked to contribute in some way to the final piece.
In the meantime enjoy the impending trickle of revised and new content.

Account Mitosis
Posted 10 years agoI have been debating this for awhile - but at some point in the future, likely around September, I will be taking down most of the art in this gallery and dividing the content between two accounts.
The reason for this is that the original concept behind the story I wanted to tell using Sofia [and cast] has changed significantly from what I had originally drafted. Currently I have a more solid, in-line canon [thanks to close collaboration with fauxlacine and several others], which I think people will enjoy and which I will enjoy telling more than the haphazard story bits I have been posting.
I also would like a place for people to view Survey Data and other pieces of Fan Art I have received from some very nice people, without confusing people more interested in Sofia's story component.
So, probably over the course of the next two months or so expect to see the content of this gallery drop dramatically. Much of the "canon" content will be re-posted with greatly expanded story components and in a more coherent arc format. I will also be expanding on a number of characters who are not Sofia, such as the frequently referenced Director of ZT-Colorado and other background characters.
As for non-canon materials - they will be migrated over to
supplementaryinformation
Don't think I will be neglecting these works though; many of them had story components which have since been improved upon. Interested viewers will get a chance to see some of the alternative storylines that were planned.
This transition won't be initiated until at least September though. This is partially because my IRL Research efforts are quite demanding and I want a smooth transition rather than the more abrupt update schedule you have seen from me lately. I also want to finish off the ongoing survey I have going so I have fresh content to post in addition to older stuff. So, you have plenty of time to right click + save anything you are worried may go missing.
If you are interested in the ongoing survey, I would appreciate the help or any shoutouts you can do to raise awareness since we have gotten very few replies thus far.

if you are interested in discussing the survey or your thoughts on it, you can do so --> in this journal
