Time to reveal my April Fools prank
Posted 2 days agoIt was literally nothing.
No, actually it wasn't just nothing, it was the fact that I made a big deal out of it only for it to be nothing. It's a fake-out.
Happy (now belated) April Fools.

Posted 5 months agoSo, the feedback channel for the new policy update over on the FA discord turned into a shitshow. Not like a fight or anything, more like government agents shooting up a protest, metaphorically speaking. The moderators started deleting entirely reasonable feedback posts. Regardless of your viewpoint on the policy itself, censoring feedback like that is something to be condemned.
I'll be sticking around for the time being but I'm definitely going to look at getting set up on another site as well just in case (No, not Twitter, and not BlueSky either as that's just pre-Musk Twitter all over again).

Update on the power situation
Posted 7 months ago...I still don't trust it. But at the very least we've managed to work out a solution with OUC. They're allowing us to set a pin instead of using sensitive info. I'm not sure how long that's going to last before another policy change screws everything up again.
I may lose power entirely due to my power company's polic...
Posted 7 months agoFor a while now I've had to pay my electricity bill through a middle man, because I've been locked out of all payment options. Not for non-payment or anything like that, but because their security policies are extremely intrusive. I can't use either my credit OR debit card because their credit card processor refuses to acknowledge any renewed cards as valid unless the CVV is identical (which it never is, it's standard policy for card renewals that the new card has a different CVV), and unfortunately that applies to paying over the phone as well. So I've had to go through a middleman. Now, they can't help anymore, because the company requires all payments to be authenticated with information that only I can give, and I can't just give it out for security reasons.
You know what, screw it, I'm not going to beat around the bush. The company is OUC, they're a piece of shit company that manages utilities on behalf of the City of Orlando.
EDIT: To clarify, the middleman's a family member who I trust, not a business.

Something I learned a few days ago...
Posted 7 months agoApparently, Hatsune Miku is basically an anthropomorphized Yamaha DX7 FM Synth Keyboard. Make of that what you will.
Slow going...
Posted 7 months agoIf you're wondering why I haven't been as active lately, there's a couple reasons.
1. The recent hijacking of FA kinda threw me out of my rhythm.
2. I got a new synthesizer, a Roland Boutique TB-03, and I'm trying to figure out how to integrate it into my existing setup. And that's taking up a good chunk of my time.

Random thought on skunk stereotypes
Posted 8 months agoI've noticed that while the "fluffy tail" and "smells bad" stereotypes for skunks are relatively common, I haven't really seen a skunk character focused on their other noteworthy, but much less known trait - breakdancing.
Yeah, skunks breakdance. Or, well... kinda? They'll handstand as a threat display.

Still around.

Random TF idea...

Sloan Gainer AU Update
Posted 12 months agoTomorrow I'll be making and uploading the next installment of my Sloan Gainer AU. Thing is, no one apparently responded to the poll I had linked in the description. I'll link it here again.

Something I noticed...

Eh, just a thought.

Computer troubles update

Bad news is, no video signal. Scratch that, replaced the HDMI cable. It's working now.

Computer troubles
Posted a year agoMy rendering rig is down for the count right now. Something happened that caused the GPU to stop working, so I ordered a new one. Won't be in until the 19th though, so I won't be able to post anything new until then.

Ideas on what it's like to be flattened
Posted a year agoSo, I thought I might do some brainstorming on the effects of flattening. Other than the sudden reduction in depth, of course.
Depending on the cause, the initial squishing could be anywhere from just a feeling of pressure (slowly pressed flat by a press) to quite painful (ran over by a car), and there's also an initial shock due to the drastic change in form. But this is short-lived.
If flattened along the body line, after the initial shock of being flattened wears off, the main sensation is a feeling of limpness throughout the body. Kinda like how it feels to just let go of any muscle tension, except across the entire body. The flattened individual's body also behaves like a sheet of flexible material as well, losing all rigidity. Hearing is dulled and vision is blurred as the necessary structures are altered in shape to something less fit for purpose. Tactile sense doesn't change, although the individual might feel disconnected, albeit more in an "out of body" sense. Overall it can be relaxing.
If flattened vertically (pancaked), the main sensation is that of feeling cramped (due to how everything's just compressed into itself) and bloated (due to the resulting horizontal spread of the individual's body).

How human-like or animal-like are my 'sonas?
Posted a year agoSo, I was thinking about how far along the "sliding scale of anthropomorphism" my characters are. Obviously stylistically all my characters lean a bit more towards the human-like side (though still firmly within "petting zoo people" territory), but I'm thinking more along the lines of mannerisms and instincts. I'll just be going over my fursonas this time - meaning Sloan (and femSloan), Tofu and Amara.
Sloan: I've always thought of Sloan as being the most "feral" of the three, relatively speaking. I don't mean that he outright acts like a serval, but rather that he tends to have his instincts show the most, usually in humorous ways. He might catch himself impulsively trying to bat small objects to the floor, or he might find himself very distracted by a laser pointer (although he won't chase it). He might hiss if excited but not focused (unlike housecats, which hiss as a threat display, servals will hiss as a general expression of excitement), or swat at someone he doesn't want near him, or fixate on rustling grass or bushes. And of course, he loves his catnip.
FemSloan: Everything that applies to Sloan here applies to FemSloan.
Tofu: in terms of behavior, Tofu's basically human, honestly. Or at least as human as a nearly 500 year old kitsune can be, anyway.
Amara: Amara's in a middle ground here. It's less instincts and more instinct-like preferences for her. She likes clean air and flowers, she likes to help people out (and in turn gets disappointed when she sees others act selfishly), and she's a bit particular about food (I'm not sure if pickiness is a Shaymin trait in general or just a trait of that ungrateful little brat from Giratina and the Sky Warrior). She also likes to sunbathe, which is actually her one species-specific instinctual urge as she kinda needs to to photosynthesize and maintain the health of her grass quills.

(Late) September update
Posted a year agoI ended up missing out on Megaplex due to scheduling conflicts. Although from what I heard, there was a bit of a dreary mood over the convention due to a certain dipshit governor and his stupid, discriminatory laws. Luckily the particular law that would have caused issues got temporarily stopped in court pending further review - hopefully that temporary stop turns into a total removal from the books and maybe even charges of hate crimes against said dipshit governor.
Other than that... again, not much has changed.
Just to note, I don't want to get into any discussion, debate or argument about politics. I know I kinda touched on that subject this time but I was simply making an observation of what's been going on.

August Update
Posted a year agoSo... I gave Baldur's Gate 3 a try... I really want to like this game, but even relatively early on you can get fucked over by things the game seems to _want_ you to do, only to then spit in your face and say "yeah, you're in jail/dead/whatever now, should have known better! HA HA HA". I swear, whoever designed this game was probably a big fan of Tomb of Horrors.
