Wondering out of curiousity AND because I have been working on two large projects lately.
I've delved into modding and it's coming along well enough for me to probably drop teasers soon on a new map.
The map is just the beginning though. ;) Won't get into that yet because I'm still shoving a ton of info into my skull learning this very messy devkit as is.
Hopefully, I can also get this map or a similar one for Path of Titans down the road too!

Posted 2 years agoI’ve finally completed all the surgeries! Then after those I ran into some more issues, like bone spurs! Hooray 😭
BUT
I think I’m finally fixed up and healing! No more weekly visits and other chaos for a bit. Im just healing off the last bit and I should be back to normal. 😊

If you've kept up with my journals these last couple of months, you likely already know my luck has been less than super good this year. I'm surviving, but damn I could use a break.
Not yet though! As Tuesday is my next surgery and HOPEFULLY my last! At least I'm really crossing my fingers that it will be the last for a long while.
I was originally set to have it in early Feb, but they did only some of the work and decided it'd be best to not do too much at once I guess? I still don't understand why but what do I know I guess lol.
-My busted laptop is fixed
-My puppy is all better now after that massive scare he gave me! Thank goodness!
I'm hoping this is a good sign that the clouds are parting finally. I'm so tired of dreading surgeries, being worried sick for my puppy, and then not even being able to draw when my laptop was down.
Thank you all for being super patient with me, and thank you for still sticking around or checking in on me from time to time. I super appreciate it.
I hope to be posting back 100% VERY soon!

My laptop is repaired and has finally returned!
Also, the right side of my jaw has healed post op really well!
I will get my left side down in early-Feb though, so expect some slowness there as well. Hopefully that will go just as well. I made sure to try to push to not get it done super close to my birthday this Sunday because they wanted me to do it days before.
Due to all this downtime I had going for me I do need to open for some more comms, so expect to see them pop up.

Down time - Part 2

To continue from there, I'm going in tomorrow to see if it cleared up. REALLY hoping the infection got gone because there is a chance I might need more done and I don't feel like having more teeth ripped out.
Other than that, everyone's tips on wisdom teeth stuff helped a ton! So thank you! They still haunt me but it's slowly clearing up.
Also, January must be bad luck for me because to top it off, I opened my laptop and heard a harrowing crack. I froze from there and showed my partner who noticed how the hinge and body finally cracked open. It's already been sent for repair! Luckily had it covered... My last update was that it should be back in my hands near the end of the month!
I know it's not been really that long, but I'm used to whipping out projects pretty quickly and keeping up the organization so I get a bit paranoid when I can't fulfill that.

So, yesterday I was scheduled to meet a new dentist for a consultation. I’ve been experiencing some pretty excruciating pain for a long while now.
I was expecting an xray and maybe a follow up but it ended up being a surprise extraction of a few wisdom teeth. My lower right was infected and pretty much horizontal, shoving into my other teeth and my top right was messed up enough too I suppose. Tbh it happened so fast I barely understood the whirlwind of stuff they were telling me.
I got the surgery done there while awake and it was done super fast though I was a fearful baby the entire time. There is something very viscerally upsetting about hearing crushing bone echoing in your own skull, with the sensation of one hand holding your forehead down and the doctor saying “WOW ITS REALLY STUCK IN THERE”
Point being, I’m going to be down a while. So expect a brief pause while I recover and try not to make it worse.
Any tips on this from people who also got wisdoms/extractions done would be great!

It's almost time and I've improved a lot since last time!
I've updated my ocs refsheets a few months ago and I'm ready for July. As usual, I will be dedicating that month to getting out as much work as I can while timing each piece under the time limit of 30 minutes. I get my best practice from this event.

I used to upload a mix of my work and commissions/trades/gifts I got of my ocs, but I hear some people don't want to see random others' work when others asked about this in the past?
I've never had anyone complain before, but is this a thing for you as well? I see kinda a back and forth between people who have said they don't mind and then some who want only specific things in their gallery or something along those lines.
I really would love to share some of the absolutely stellar work I got here and it's not like it's Twitter where I can just share and y'all can see them (I wish!), also some are criminally underrated or hardly have 100 watchers here, so I'd love to share them with you. Help spread their name out and get them some love they deserve!
Also, I'd keep them in scraps probably as well like before, since I want my gallery to be my work on first sight. They'd go into the right folders for the characters (Scarab, Halo, Lehmagra, etc) for easy access though! I do buy lots and lots of commissions though and never get to show them off! Sometimes the artist doesn't post all their comms (I don't either lol) so ya'know. :>
Lemme know your thoughts! I'd like to essentially get as many answers as I can to kinda get an idea on a vote since polls are still not a thing lol. If I do start posting them again, nothing else changes besides this addition... again, like I used to anyway lol. Also, yeah, I'm not willing to add maintaining another extra account on all these others and workload from commissions I have, so very unlikely I'll do that.

Wowow, about the comic, Lumavae

Just want to say thank you for the huge feedback on Lumavae everyone. I honestly thought it was just going to be something for me but seeing all the very nice comments has really filled me up with motivation I haven't felt in probably... years!
Comics are something I absolutely love to do, but they take a lot of effort for me, even my silly Furry Logic comics that probably look like they took 5 minutes, lol.
I've learned since Loa to pace myself more and not make every page as crazy detailed as my full renders, otherwise, I'm spending an easy 30 hours for a page that might be dedicated to the character just moving one place to another... Which tends to really drain me and then it can take ages for me to regain stamina. So Lumavae, while way more effort than Furry Logic, is done pretty "quickly" if I can call it that. A few years ago if I tried this I would have been still on the first page struggling to get everything looking as perfect as I can get it, which would be never for me lol.
But as dumb as it sounds, those nice comments can sometimes feel like they instantly refill my inspiration and it's 100x easier to move onto the next page a lot sooner. Knowing people are interested helps a lot I suppose, as much as I was prepared to just kinda illustrate the story for myself and just drop it here too... but it's just way more fun when others are having fun as well!
I have 3 more pages done and ready, the 4th is being lined, but I just had to take some really quick small comms to do this following week so we'll see if I can get these 4 done this week or not too. Really depends on how long those comms take of course.
So again, thank you for being awesome! I hope I can continue to bring you some neat stuff!
I got good news and bad news (Comic stuff)

OKAY, this has been a thing for a couple of weeks now, but I've been avoiding talking about it because I've been trying to fix it this entire time.
Turns out, I just gotta accept that it happened and there is nothing I can seem to do about it.
So maybe some people remember me taking a bunch of YCH's to fund for a new laptop to replace the hella old one that was showing constant signs of being ready to croak? It had gotten really bad at the end there to the point where I was losing files constantly and every time I'd work on commissions, it'd blue screen easily several times (especially that last week). I did manage to work through it and still got things done really fast...
AND
you guys helped me get my new laptop HELLA faster than I've ever been able to before! I still can't even believe that went so well and I really have to thank you guys for supporting me so much and making my job livable.
Getting the laptop and all that was the good news! So thank you so so much for that!
The bad news is as I mentioned before, I lost a loooot of stuff and I have no idea what was really going on for it to happen. So I lost tons of old files, wips of lots and lots of personal art annnd... a good chunk of Loa pages. Luckily for the old pages, they're on here. So there is that.
But the like... 20 something other pages not shown publically yet? Those got eaten.
Along with a bunch of species profiles, references, etc etc.
And it's like, spotty? Like some are gone, some aren't, some open in SAI but have this weird white artifact blocky thing all over the image I can't seem to fix? - I can't remember what page had what in between and it's a big old mess.
So that MEGA sucks, but, guess that fits that years reputation, doesn't it?
Am I just scrapping Loa then? Nooo way. I'mma try to turn this around and use this as an excuse to just try again from the comic pages start. Technically those pages still up are the "reboot" of my original comic, but that old one was traditional from AGES ago so you can imagine why I rebooted it once I hit the furry world and learned what furries and digital art was.
I think (or hope) that this will be beneficial now anyway, since back when I uploaded the first like 30 pages, I was a really small time artist who barely knew how to art at all and had no following. So a lot of newer people have no idea what I'm talking about anyway, but maybe now I can share this new shinier version with all you great people who're around these days.
I'm still kinda tossing the idea around a ton, so everything is subject to change, but I'm definitely going to use this as an excuse to revamp some HELLA 2007-11 era designs! I've already tested one to see if it made me uncomfortable or not to change something so old, and nah, it feels way better so that's probably good to go.
Also, the order I'm showing the plot is going to change, rather than showing the prologue first (for whatever reason) I think I will just get us going on the main plot. I think that might be jarring for some people, but like, here we are lol.
So that's that then! My old laptop fried pretty hard, but I was able to somehow stay kinda afloat and get a new one in good time, I lost a butt-ton of work over like 14ish years (Scslcsfcmlms), but now I have an excuse to start kinda fresh... At least on that specific project's comic form.

You can just... ask me to help you lol.
I'm very used to my work being taken one way or another, whether that be tracing, heavily referencing to where it's like the same but the tail is slightly moved or they changed only the colors. It was always pretty common for me, but since Furry Logic started up, it's become something I get noted about a couple times a week or sometimes more.
While I'm flattered you like my work, it kinda hurts when you just try to sell the thing you traced off me as adopts...
Especially with my newer paleoart where I studied my heart out, put myself hesitantly in a pool of huge mega artists and told them to hit me with everything they had for critique... Changed and fixed it a dozen times and spent who knows how many hours trying to learn all I could until I got their approval while being extremely nervous to show any of them.
All for it to be just... "yoinked" in probably minutes and recolored, sold off... 😞
I may not confront you about it, but I usually know. Either someone/many told me or I stumbled upon it because I search FA a lot.
If you're struggling with something and you think going over my stuff is your only solution truly, just note me and ask for some redlines or something. You'll be a lot better off. Short term and long term. Also, remember to broaden your references. Don't eyeball one thing, make a collage and study them. If you've been to art school, you already familiar. This way you won't just end up redrawing someone else's stuff but color it differently. Also, you won't pick up on one particular artists bad habits. Posted 5 years agoI just want to seriously thank everyone for the serious rad support lately. Just some months ago I was terribly worried about changing my content type to something I found real enjoyment out of. I vented to you all and worried that me focusing more on stuff I liked, would result in a huge jumping ship type of movement. Especially because it meant like 99% of my NSFW was shut down unless it was personal stuff or for fun. It turned out a lot different than I expected though!
Even though I am doing less of the old stuff I did (I still do most of it, besides the NSFW, but just not as often) I'm noticing I'm getting more feedback and interaction than I ever did before. My SFW stuff is now doing better than my NSFW and... idk that's pretty awesome to me!
I kinda assumed I'd just deal with it all being low afterward and just kinda settled on that idea so I could draw what I enjoyed most.
Thank you all so much for following me through this journey. It's going way beyond what I expected and I'm glad I didn't end up letting people down with the shift.
I'm also glad my variety isn't throwing too many people off. I can tell it is some, but it doesn't seem to be any type of negative effect like I thought it would have. I like being able to draw many things, over just one thing. (Example, Loa, humans, monsters, occasional typical furry-esque character, quads, fantasy dinosaurs and the new paleoart I am trying to get into hard)
Thanks so much for sticking with me even when there might be a streak of something else content-wise, then it going back and forth.
It all depends on my mood!
I feel a lot less weight on my shoulders knowing I don't have to at least get the same thing over and over out there several times a week. My art block is dissipating so much faster now, and though I'm not 100% free, this was a /several year art block/ so that is a huge plus for me!
I also love having a very diverse group of followers. I know some prefer some types of my work over others, but I just dig hearing from the different types of people's feedback so much.
Speaking of feedback! WOW it's been fantastic! Especially on my new paleoart journey! I read every comment and they make me honestly giddy. It makes me excited to work on the next piece and I mean that so hard. I'm already working on the next now, just taking a break to write this.
I thought my paleoart would bore people to tears. I was like okay with getting 0 comments and maybe a dozen faves, but the response is nothing like I thought. Thank you! It's so exciting to know people also like the things I nerd hard out over.
Okay, end of rambling, I'll just go on forever.
The point was me just thanking everyone so dang much. ;v;

Going to get kinda personal here, which I rarely do anywhere, so if you don't like that then idk why you're still reading. BUT... here we go.
Nothing necessarily important I'm sure, but kinda important to me! I am making some changes to my work - what I will be taking, what I will be uploading, what I will no longer possibly ever do again, etc.
I don't know if anyone really noticed, but my larger full rendered pieces have seemingly ceased appearing. (The fully shaded pieces with BG's that're all fancified) The last time I did one seriously, was over a year ago! The others were personal and done sorta quickly, so I won't count those.
Well, I think I'm finally coming to terms with why that is. I managed to burn myself out. AND HARD. Which I've never experienced before. I used to never get art block or doubt my own art, but it started around late 2017 to 2018. Right around the same time where I truly began to study hard on artwork. I think that's around the time my art started to really pick up, which is great! But in turn, I took way too much in too fast and ran myself into the ground.
After that point, I struggled to draw almost anything else since until sorta recently, when I came to terms with how this most likely happened.
I was so caught up in catering to a general crowd, I was drawing things I didn't enjoy a LOT. At the time, I sorta had to. I had bills to pay and couldn't nitpick. I had a family to take care of any my needs didn't matter. I didn't realize how much hinged on passion for your work if you didn't pay more attention if I liked it or not. It was kinda a suck it up situation. That and I usually used whatever it was to practice anyway. And that DID help. I did improve a lot. Which was great! But... I didn't enjoy the process one bit. I was not invested in the subject, characters or anything, at least most of the time. (there are lots of exceptions). I guess I'm happy that a lot of those pieces I'm still proud of just because of the effort I put into them. I can look back at a lot of them and know I put my all into that over a span of sometimes 20-30 hours.
The time it took was another thing. I think my head was so ahead of my hand that I could see what I needed to do but my hand was still some years behind, so every piece took twice if not three or four times longer than average for me. I wanted to push through my limit so hard that I straight up dropped off a cliff.

It means I'm making some changes I know some people will stick their noses up at me for, I just happen to stop caring about that finally. At first, I dreaded it, but after thinking on it for a long, long time, I'm actually kinda excited!
It had to be done or I don't think I'd be able to recover artistically otherwise.
1: My gallery will be gradually changed over to things only I'd want in it. That means nearly all will likely be personal art. If not personal art, art I'm really proud of or just am happy about! Not just a mad conglomeration of commissions with lewds out in front.
2: I can feel the unwatching, but I'm still no longer taking NSFW commissions. I don't like it, I don't enjoy it, I never watched real porn because of some weird irrational fear of it... let alone... strange fictional furry porn... so why force myself. You will still see some personal lewds time to time, just humanoid stuff (-unwatching intensifies at the mention of human-).
3: I will likely only take full render commissions through YCH's from now on, that way I can draw all the cool scenes I want! And I'm sure some people dig that. I'll still be doing smaller comms of subjects I like here and there.
I think that covers it? I know I probably disappointed a ton of people that wanted NSFW stuff from me or something, but man do I miss enjoying artwork and BOY would I like my gallery to have my characters in it. I feel people don't know me anymore, besides Scarab.
OH, yes. The plus side is I will finally be doing more Furry Logic since my time won't be consumed as much.
So more my characters, dinosaurs, creatures, furry logic, Loa, etc. Maybe I can do art trades more often again!
With time, hopefully I can bounce back to doing full renders of my own stuff again. I'm just not going to force myself to the point it breaks me again. A lotta people aren't going to like this change, but what can I more can I say?

I can't even comprehend it. I see it. But like, I feel like I'll blink and it will be back at 3k as if I dreamt it.
I can't possibly even express how thankful I am for this community for following me as long as you have.
I feel like it was only a year ago where I was struggling to get 14 views on something with 1 fave for so
very, very long but here I am after ages of constant practicing. Every commission has pushed me an
inch forward and I just have no words good enough to tell you all how this makes me feel. I never
thought I'd ever be recognized for my work, let alone have anyone care to follow along my weird journey.
Thank you for being here with me, whether you've been here since year 1 or since a couple hours ago lol.
I know my works a bit slow but I have lots of stuff coming now that Art fight is over.

Just gonna repeat how thankful I am that anyone enjoys my work. I sometimes can't
believe how far I've gotten here and in my progression as an artist. Some of the
simplest comments can really make my day, even if only a single word.
I sometimes worry that my variety turns people away who only watch me for one
thing, but I can't ever be the person to draw one type of thing forever. I really want
to always be able to produce all types of creature art, I've even been practicing my
humans lately, which is unheard of from me. I've drawn probably a total of 4 in
the last 3 years. I sometimes feel guilty uploading a sketch, or maybe a non anthro
creature for those who just watch me for those... Or perhaps some only watch me
for my girly uploads... or maybe even my more masculine ones... I don't know.
My gallery will always consist of what I enjoy to draw and I apologize if that kinda
makes anyone "ugh" or anything. I can't see myself making multiple accounts just
to upload a male anthro or something like some people do. Sorry. ;v;
There is also the fact I've moved away from all NSFW stuff some years ago,
as I just really honestly hate working on all forms of it. I'm terribly sorry to
those who like it and that's fine you do, but I've 0 interest in drawing or
consuming any type of it, even if the most normal vanilla-type stuff you
can find. I'm glad you guys have been so kind with this, as
I thought I would get backlash from it originally with how a lot of people
told me/make that joke if you don't do nsfw you won't make it as an artist,
especially a furry one. Even if I don't really appeal to furry stuff anymore. ;v;
I don't mind drawing furry-related content, though! And I enjoy you guys a
whole lot.
Anyway, my point is, thank you for dealing with my weird variety and sticking with
me for however long. Whether you're new to watching me or been here for a long
while.
Just randomly thankful and thinking back on the days where I'd upload and get lucky
if I get 3 faves and maybe even a comment. Now I'm striking the occasional 400-500
somehow and it sometimes baffles me. Especially when it's Furry Logic. I literally
assumed people would dislike my weird inner thoughts or stupid jokes. :,D But I'm
glad some of you get me and don't take it too seriously since it's 110% a joke.
So uh, thanks for being there. Even if we never talked. ^^
