Top five mind-blowing observations on Zootopia fan art
Posted 9 years agoI couldn't help but notice that most Zootopia fan art before the movie is release are either porn or parodies. Now that the movie is release I'd have to say Zootopia fan art is now largely cute, heart-felt and romantic.
I've also decided to title all my journals with click-bait.

Great Inspirational Post:
Posted 9 years agoTaken from Lua Veli https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRP.....51zqu3hh3oyhc0
In a live event called " Fulfilment at work", someone from the audience asked Alain de Botton ( the founder of School of Life channel) for a career advice. Well, he could have said that if they read as much as he did and worked as hard as he did, anybody could write a bestseller at age 23, and then keep writing one bestseller after another and then build schools all around the world and also accomplish the other thousand things etc.... Instead he said something much wiser:
" Dare to dream. Set yourself a vision of how you would like the world to be and work backwards from it. Have the courage not just to dream a little bit, but to dream and then rationalise and analyse your dream. It is a mixture of imagination and reason."
This is what we need from people who are very successful: a more accurate type of encouragement.
There are so many "role models" out there who tell you to " live your dreams", but none of them I know, advices you to " rationalise and analyse" your dreams. May be because it sounds less glorious and it doesn't fill you with a sense of hope immediately.
People who follow the " you can be anything " slogan , are full of courage and hopes when they are young, but a great percentage of them will be bitter and disappointed in a few years, because they were not at all prepared for any other outcome than success. And their "role models" who encouraged them for the journey, won't have a word of consolation for them either. Indeed the only word in their vocabulary for those people is " loser" . That's why it is very unwise, cruel and dangerous to motivate people this way: into a delusion.
Meanwhile "analysing your dreams" will give you the chance to imagine all possible outcomes, including failing greatly. You will be prepared. You won't build your entire identity around this ambition, knowing that the result will depend on so many factors you cannot control. You will be brave in dreaming big , but you will be modest at the same time. You will be " curious" to see what happens. If you also love Kavafis, you 'll have his great poem Ithaki always in your mind.
Honestly, I think this is a much healthier way to live.
If you want to think more on the subject, don't miss Alain's documentary " Status Anxiety" which is on youtube. And the TED Talk " A kinder gentler philosophy of success" is very wise and helpful too

1.5 Billion USD
Posted 9 years agoWhat would you do with 1.5 billion USD? I'd buy some fursuits, travel, buy a 2br bungalow, replace my car with a Jeep Rubicon, open an art gallery, finish college, pay off debts and invest the rest.
Pacific Pony Con
Posted 9 years agoWell, It was a lot of hard work for me there since I did nothing but volunteer. I had to help set up the registration desk, pick up Dr Wolf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVMKU5qVxqs from the airport, man the Con Ops room, monitor the vendor hall, help Dr Wolf get lunch, help out the vendor hall again, attend the after dark panels, struggle to stay awake, had two beers, fell asleep. The next day, I attended my own panel with three other artists and talked about art in front of an audience of six. After that, I went to the Brony analysis panel to witness Key Frame fall off the stage and sprained her ankle. Fortunately, she is in good spirits. I also sent four paintings to the charity auction. One Luna painting sold for $300 and the Mission Belle in watercolor didn't sell at all so I gave it to some sailor for $40. He also gave me a Rainbow Dash Funko vinyl figure on top of that. I then helped tear down the stage and then we went to Bali Hai and had dinner there to close the convention out.
The convention is a success; we got a mention on the Union Tribune and we had 600 attendees and 25% of them were children under the age of 12.

Controversy!
Posted 9 years agoIf you are going to say something controversial online or in real life, expect an argument. Expecting people to say nothing but "You're right!" is naive.
Saw The Martian
Posted 9 years agoI can honestly say that this is the best movie I have seen in a year. It has comedy, suspense, horror, squick, a few scares and even a bunch of things that will make nerds happy. I also think this movie will inspire a lot of teenagers to get a STEM degree. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie is on the top ten biggest hits of 2015. I have to say that I consider this to be a survival-comedy that works extremely well.
My favorite line: "I am having potatoes with crushed Vicodin...and nobody can stop me!"

Streaming
Posted 9 years agoSaw Terminator Genisys
Posted 9 years agoAll I can say now is OMG WTF!? That movie is awesome! Why couldn't Terminator 3 like that!? And I can say that CGI has finally advanced enough to get out of the uncanny valley. It has comedy, action, and a theme about predestination vs freewill. I'd also have to make an infographic on the timeline for fellow viewers.

Life is so grand in Our Con
We're always filled with cheer
We never have to look around
To know that we're all here
[Citizens]
In Our Con, in Our Con
We don't have to wait
To find out that our destiny
Is just to emulate
Let's see those big, happy smiles!
Life is a smile in Our Con
Our collar tags the same
Because we do not separate
Ourselves by more than name
[Citizens]
In Our Con, in Our Con,
We dare not compete
Winning only breeds the worst
Ego-filled conceit
You see? Now everybody wins!
Life is a joy in Our Con
We're all equal here
No one is superior
And no one shakes in fear
[Citizens]
In Our Con, in Our Con
We work as a team
You can't have a nightmare
If you never dream
Other creatures argue
Do you ever wonder why?
When you think your talent's special
You don't see eye-to-eye
There's just too many differences
That lead to disarray
But when you learn to act as one
It's like a holiday
[Citizens]
In Our Con, in Our Con
We don't complicate
When you learn to simplify
Life is oh, so great
Join in our utopia
Come out of the dark
Banded by equality
By our collar tags!

Best Baseball Joke Ever!
Posted 10 years agoSo I heard on the radio the news about a baseball player who admitted to using steroids. I then jokingly said to my coworker about how funny it would be if he uses that serum that Bane from Batman uses. "Bane would be like 'I'm invincible!'" as he cracks his bat."
My coworker said. "He'll never get his balls back."

Today's MLP Episode.

And I noticed that Rainbow Dash seems to smile like the Grinch
You're an insane one, Rainbow Dash,
You really are a heel!
You're as delicate as an earthquake,
You're as charming as an eel, Rainbow Dash.
You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!
You're a monster, Rainbow Dash.
Your heart's an empty hole!
Your brain is full of paraspites,
You've got garlic in your soul, Rainbow Dash.
I wouldn't touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!
You're a foul one, Rainbow Dash.
You have twitter mites in your smile!
You have all the tender sweetness
Of a seasick crocodile, Mr. Grinch.
Given the choice between the two of you
I'd take the seasick crocodile!
