De VVD steunt de bestrijding van belastingontwijking en -ontduiking. Er worden hiervoor veel verschillende maatregelen geïmplementeerd die op internationaal niveau zijn afgesproken. Extra maatregelen, zoals nieuwe Europese belastingen of het opgeven van het Nederlandse veto in de Raad zijn een aantasting van de Nederlandse soevereiniteit en dus onacceptabel. De VVD heeft daarom tegen dit verslag gestemd.

De VVD steunt het Commissievoorstel om een Europese Arbeidsautoriteit op te richten. Echter, het verslag waarover gestemd is in het Parlement geeft deze autoriteit een te grote rol in zaken die onderdeel zijn van de bevoegdheden van de lidstaten.

De VVD is voor effectief milieubeheer en de aanpak van klimaatverandering. In de periode 2014-2020 is er voor het milieu en klimaatactieprogramma (LIFE) 3,45 miljard beschikbaar. In de voorgestelde Europese meerjarenbegroting 2021-2027 wordt dit bedrag verhoogd tot 5,45 miljard. Het Europees Parlement stelt in dit verslag een stijging voor van nog eens 2 miljard. De verhoging tot een bedrag van 7,2 miljard vindt de VVD onvoldoende onderbouwd en behoort tot het debat over de nieuwe Europese meerjarenbegroting. Daarom onthoudt de VVD zich van stemmen.
