How does VM0048 impact new REDD+ project baselines? 🗺️ We covered it all in our latest webinar, but the TL:DW is that VM0048 changes how the project baseline is set. Historically, the baseline was computed by the developer from a self-selected reference area. Now, deforestation risk is calculated across the whole jurisdiction by Verra (with data supplied externally), so baselines will stay consistent across all projects in the country. You can find out more in the quick video below. Have a specific question? Check out our webinar FAQ (link in comments) #VM0048 #Verra #REDD

Meet Nived - our newest Solutions team member. If you've chatted with us recently, you might have already met him on a discovery call or at the event in London last week. Nived is integral to connecting client requirements to the science side and we wish success in his new role!
What makes Space Intelligence an amazing workplace is not just our incredible team and the work we do to support carbon projects around the world but also the fact that it is a talent factory. Three years ago, when I joined the company, I was fresh out of university with a strong interest in data science and remote sensing. Three years later, not just that the company successfully moulded me into a capable data scientist, I have developed an unwavering passion for carbon markets and Nature-based Solutions to combat climate change, and the steadfast leadership that this challenging problem demands. I am extremely privileged to announce that I am moving to a role within Space Intelligence that will allow me to have real conversations with our client base—project developers and investors, from around the world! I am very proud to represent the incredible scientific heritage of the company but at the same time to be able to study the market to see how we can best support decarbonization projects around the globe, particularly in the tropics, through our innovative, effective, and reliable solutions. I will be working as Technical Solutions Specialist with our Customer Solutions Lead, Dr Alexis Moyer. I am very grateful to Space Intelligence for trusting me with this role and nurturing my interest in leadership and business development. I would like to thank a few people who have enabled this transition and supported me through it. I am very grateful to my past managers Wietze Suijker, Dr Magdalena Navarro Torres Arpi, and Anna Fumagalli, for having provided me with invaluable feedback and untiring support and mentoring. I would also like to thank Professor Ed Mitchard, Dr Murray Collins, and Dr Paula Nieto Quintano for inspiring me with their leadership to take this big leap in my career. As part of my role and beyond, I would be very glad to be involved in conversations with anyone interested in our work and high integrity carbon credits and markets. Please feel free to message me on LinkedIn! PS: I love my office mug with a picture of a border terrier (my little doggie best friend is a border terrier too) on it! Picture credits to Susheel G..

Our CEO, Murray Collins spoke at the Carbon Forward Asia panel "The Race to Quality and Credibility of Nature-based Solutions" in Singapore, where he stressed the need for close collaboration. For the VCM to work, we need to build trust, improve project integrity, and make sure MRV technologies evolve alongside new verification standards. At Space Intelligence, we’re all in on this - using remote sensing and machine learning tech to provide high quality data that aligns with global carbon standards like VM0047 and VM0048. If you’re in Singapore or Jakarta in the next few weeks, let’s chat! ☕ #VCM #CarbonForwardAsia #carboncredits

We're out of time. To meet the 1.5C climate target goal, companies and countries need to invest in carbon projects now. There's a lot of opportunity to save and restore forests around the tropics, particularly Indonesia and Brazil - and real investment, especially under Article 6, can help bring those projects to life. 🎧 Listen to the full episode on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/ewa-HrMZ
