Abusive notifications are browser notifications that mislead users or promote malware, phishing, or scams.
They fall into two broad categories: "Permission request issues" and "Notification issues." Note that the following examples aren't meant to be exhaustive.
Permission request issues
- Abusive notification permission requests: Requests for browser notifications that are designed to mislead, trick, or force users into allowing notifications. Examples include requests that require users to allow notifications in order to gain access to site content or that are preceded by misleading pre-prompts.
Notification issues
- Fake messages: Notifications that resemble chat messages, warnings, or system dialogs.
- Phishing: Notifications that attempt to steal personal information or trick users into sharing personal information.
- Malware: Notifications that promote, host, or link to malware or unwanted software.
