
Geely: Can the Smart Driving Battle Shake BYD?

Geely will hold an AI smart technology launch conference on March 3, 2025. Consistent with Dolphin Research's previous analysis after the BYD smart driving launch conference titled “Can 'Smart Driving Equality' Really Recreate BYD?,” Geely's launch conference also proposed a plan to benchmark BYD's Tian Shen Zhi Yan, but there is still a technical time lag compared to BYD's "Smart Driving Equality":
1. Dolphin Research's judgment on Geely's smart driving launch conference:
① Currently, Geely's low-tier smart driving can only be applied to vehicles priced at 150,000 yuan:
From the two models released at this Geely smart driving launch conference: the upgraded pure electric model Galaxy E8 and the newly launched Xingyao 8 EMI equipped with the new generation of Thunder God hybrid, both models only use Geely's H1 smart driving solution (100 TOPS), which benchmarks against BYD's Tian Shen Zhi Yan C, while BYD's Tian Shen Zhi Yan C has already been applied to vehicles priced at 80,000 yuan;
② Low-tier smart driving will continue to be applied to new Geely models in the second half of 2025, but no specific timeline was given:
In the second half of this year, Geely's entire new product line will fully cover the H1 - H9 solutions. Starting from the second half of this year, the Galaxy facelift models will also be equipped with different levels of smart driving solutions, and Geely plans to launch flagship products equipped with the H7 high-tier solution.
③ In the first half of the year, Geely can only rely on price reductions of existing models to cope with the impact of BYD's "Smart Driving Equality":

Benchmarking Tian Shen Zhi Yan A: Geely H7+H9 solution (500/1000 TOPS)4) H7: 11V3R1L + dual Orin X chips (computing power 508 TOPS), based on E2E + VLM + digital precognitive network, achieving high-speed NOA, parking valet VPD, city map-less NOA, and full-scene D2D functions.
- H9: 13V5R(X) L, using dual Thor chips (computing power 1000+ TOPS), fully redundant, fully backed up, top-level L3 architecture (VLA + digital precognitive network), supporting full-scene D2D + city map-less NOA + high-speed NOA + parking valet VPD functions, is the company's L3-oriented solution.
In the implementation of the "Qianli Haohan" intelligent driving system, the H1 solution is currently standard on the Galaxy Starry 8 EM and E8. In the second half of this year, Geely's entire new product line will fully cover the H1 - H9 solutions, with flagship models equipped with the top-level computing power H7 solution, accelerating the popularization of intelligent driving technology across various models.
Current progress in intelligent driving:
The company is developing D2D parking space to parking space navigation assistance functions, which will achieve full-scene connectivity coverage for community roads, ETC, ramps, highways, etc., and plans to launch on a large scale in March 2025.
2. New product launch - two models fully equipped with Qianli Haohan H1 (currently can only bring the intelligent driving solution down to models priced at 150,000 yuan)
- New model: The new C-class flagship pure electric sedan Galaxy E8 is launched, equipped with a 45-inch long screen, fully equipped seats, priced at 149,800 - 198,800 yuan, which is 16,000 yuan cheaper than the old model, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, using 5 millimeter-wave radars + 12 ultrasonic radars + 12 cameras + lidar for intelligent driving perception solution;
The C-class flagship plug-in hybrid sedan Starry 8 EM is unveiled, equipped with the new generation EM-P super electric hybrid technology.
3. Galaxy brand adjustment:
Geely's Galaxy series is officially upgraded to the Geely Galaxy brand, while Yizhen Automobile is officially merged into Galaxy, becoming the high-end MPV series of Galaxy, with the first car L380 pre-priced starting at 339,900 yuan.
The Geely Galaxy product matrix is further expanded, covering the intelligent boutique small car GEOME series, mainstream boutique car series, and high-end MPV Yizhen series4. Price Reduction: Current selling models are promoted at a discount of 3,000 to 6,000 yuan compared to the guide price, in response to the impact of BYD's intelligent driving equality.
The price of Xingyuan is 68,800 to 97,800 yuan, with an actual reduction of 1,000 yuan, down 3,200 yuan from the guide price;
The price of Galaxy E5 is 107,800 to 143,800 yuan, with an actual reduction of 2,000 yuan, down 4,200 yuan from the guide price;
The price of Galaxy Starship 7 EM-I is 97,800 to 130,800 yuan, with an actual reduction of 2,000 yuan, down 3,200 yuan from the guide price;
The price of Galaxy E8 is 149,800 to 198,800 yuan, down 3,200 yuan from the guide price;
