A solid little go at a 90s Doom-ish FSP. It’s definitely feeling to not be able to look up and down, lol! Even when I play classic Doom via GZDoom, I feel I need to turn up/down look on.

I thought the environment and monster design was quite creepy and I liked that you used weapon/monster sprites instead of 3D models!

I felt the environments were a little too dark/foggy. A lot of the time it felt as if I needed to hug the walls just to know where I am, and not really in a good way… and that was before I even came across the extra foggy rooms. I think there was way too much, even for a horror game.

As for the monsters… they work well, but are pretty easy to beat, even without a gun.

Over all, I think this was a solid entry! Here’s a link to my stream of this game, if you’re interested.

Oh wow, thank you for the feedback and the playthrough! I never even considered that the fog might be a little much, seemed fine with my playtesters. Maybe it’s some kind of hardware issue? Either way I’ll take that into consideration and I agree that the monsters were really easy, if I continue the project I’ll balance the difficulty a bit more as I’ve said in other comments. Thank you for playing!

Nice little doom-like with interesting aesthetic.

Very good idea for the bell on the enemies, even though I had to spot only one by sound (all the others were a bit too visible).

Developer

Thanks for playing! Definitely, those enemies are more designed for foggy areas but I ran out of time to add any others so they had to become the only actual gameplay available meaning I had to use them a bit more liberally.

I rarely play horror games, so the fact that I beat this game is a big success for me! Haha

It was really nice to play! I liked it :D

BREATHED ANOTHER DAY.

It took a long time before finding some enemies. I think from a game design point of view this game need to decide if it wants to be more action oriented (and have more amno and enemies) or more scary survival horror (in that case is missing some tension). Overall a good job.

Thanks!! Totally agree, not proud of the game design choices I made while making it so hopefully I can redeem it after the jam ends.

That give me quake vibes! Nice retro looks, love a FPS action game!

Lots of good things here, shooting, enemies, level design.

I guess if there's only one thing is that I had to walk a lot before finding someone to shoot down :D

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, the game is quite slow and I really felt that during play testing it over and over again but I didn’t have time to make it more exciting 😭

The boomer shooter style, tense gas mechanic, and sound orientation make for an intriguing experience, though I think scarier sounds (like footsteps and growls) might enhance the atmosphere even more. Adding vertical mouse control would improve exploration, and a variety of enemies would create incentive to keep playing. The game felt a bit easy and short—I could avoid enemies even when out of ammo, and health items were unnecessary. With more challenge, new monsters, and extended gameplay, this game could become truly impressive. Thanks again it was fun to explore!

Thank you for the feedback! Totally agree with what you said, a week was a pretty brutal deadline but I might be able to expand it after the jam :>

Thanks for playing! I guess the game really does jump between horror aspects and just a shooter, I’ll have to try and fix that if I do something with it after the jam.

The first enemy encounter felt very tense with the smoke/fog! Really like how the enemies have bells that ring when they move as well. Cool aesthetic!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I was going for that with the first enemy! OG plan was to have more enemies spawn after that sequence but I ran out of time lol
