Hey There!

I wanted to try and analyze every game in more detail, but unfortunately :( there's no time left for that, as there's only ONE hour left to vote, and there are still 200-300 games to go. So, my rating will be based on what I can see on the profile page (graphics, concept, description, etc.) to contribute a few points and help improve your chances! I'm not expecting a rating or anything in return since time runs out in an hour. It simply gives me peace of mind knowing that I was able to rate every game. :)

Wishing you all the best! ;)

holy cow is there a lot of content. fantastic work and really well polished for a game jam for sure! challenging gameplay and fun boss fights to boot. great work!

Developer

Thanks for trying my game!

This is really cool with some very impressive fleshed out mechanics with a lot of depth. I really tried to follow all the information given in the description, but it was a lot to take in, and I didn't really understand the combat, so I think in future it would have been better to provide some more clear and concise tutorialization within the game. I can tell that you've made something pretty impressive though, and I won't punish it for my skill issue. Good job!

Really cool VFX that was my favorite part of your game, its really fun! Thanks. Feel free to try our game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying my game!

Obviously I'll try yours too!

(After I done with these raws.guthubusercontent thingy)

I really like the visuals in the game, the character designs are awesome, and the scenary is really well made, reminds me nice classic RPG made nowadays, the combat is hard but mechanics are cool and make our attacks feel real powerful, its very hard fight, challenging but awesome. I rate graphics, control, fun and mechanics the most but all is cool really, also, if you have some time, please, rate my game too, thanks!!!!

Developer(+1)

Haha, thanks for trying my game!

Obviously I check your out as well, don't worry about it.

This one somehow creates the vibe of a pokemon and i'm a little confused in the beginning to start with the shop then wallpaper then save system? I don't understand why they are there but an interesting title. I'd love to see the completed version also.

Developer

They're GirlMon, not Pokemon because you can't put them in the pocket, but you are right, the gameplay includes pokemon mechanics if they were made an action game, probably...

Also if you're confused, I already put a guide in the game page as am i aware I didn't include tutorial, as for the wallpaper was just for fun.

Anyway, thanks for trying my game!

Its very interesting, like ppl already mentioned it needs a tutorial :D but fun game a bit hard, hmm I couldn't find a spin mechanic anywhere considering the theme of the Jam is spin but even so, good use of rpg maker :D

Developer(+1)

You probably didn't buy Whirlwind Slash or Chaos Sword, Whirlwind Slash is spinning attacks while Chaos Sword is throwing the Spinning Sword, also when using Sword Pierce/Chaos Sword the player can do a short spinning attack until the Sword returned back.

You probably also didn't see the game page as everything were described there from control, skill, mechanics, basically the whole gameplay because I'm fully aware I couldn't make the tutorial because there's not much time left.

Additionally all bosses has a Spinning attacks so there's no way you missed them unless you got instantly killed by first boss.

Anyway thanks for trying my game!

I will keep playing it and take a good look at the homepage! :D

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get this to work after multiple uninstall/reinstall cycles. I was able to launch the game, but as soon as I was supposed to take player control, my sprite tried to walk off the north end of the screen where I got stuck with a "WIP" text. The second time I tried I immediately lost control again, but my sprite walked itself up into the top left corner of the map and refused to leave.

Developer

I don't really know what went wrong especially if you use other OS and run my game in emulator but if you run my game in windows then check your keyboard for errors especially arrow keys or number keys in case your keyboard NumLock was on.

Additionally you can use gamepad but you have to configure it manually by pressing F1 in game.

Submitted(+1)

The game is visually very cool! The ideas implemented in it also impressed me. I can only complain that it really lacks a tutorial, and without it, it's hard to adapt to the controls during the game. But even so, the game was enjoyable, good job!

Developer

I know about the tutorial, I really overestimated myself and trying to put way too many things that I run out of time and couldn't finish it properly.

Anyway thanks for trying my game!

Submitted(+1)

Wish there was a tutorial or something on how to play the game... the controls also felt very confusing and the theme felt pretty lacking. Despite that the art style is really cool and I like the creative world. Eventually I figured out the controls and the bosses were pretty fun too.

Developer

I'm sorry I know I should make a tutorial but I'm really struggling with the time, I even missed one boss because there's really not much time left so I put the game instructions on the game page which explains game mechanics like how to attack, parry, dash, skills, basically everything.

As for the control, my game support a generic gamepad but you will have to configure the button manually if my keyboard control isn't to your liking.

Oh well thanks for trying my game and the feedback too!

Submitted(+1)

I could tell that the game as a lot of charm!  I really like the sprite work and effects.  The QTE event on the first boss was also a nice touch, but I found that it occurred a little too fast and too often.

I found that this game struggles to help new players get into the game easily.  To help new players who have never played this sort of game, I would definitely suggest to provide them with a character already set up with preset stats.  This would help them immediately get into the action without having to understand what every single stat does.  It would have also been extremely useful to be able to try out skills and check their damage before heading into the boss.  I understand that there wasn't a lot of time to include a comprehensive tutorial, but I think as a game jam game, having only one or two abilities would have been perfect and maybe a focus on player movement and dodging projectiles would have improved the overall experience.

Overall, it's awesome to find another unique submission to this jam!  Nice work!

Developer(+1)

For game being having so much ability is due to my passion, I always wanted to make a game which give player a freedom so they can have their own playstyle which makes them unique.

Regarding tutorial I don't have much time and you're right, I should have prepared a instant build but again making all of these are pretty time consuming so I kind of not having enough time for it.

As for QTE events like clashing, it's triggered whenever the player and the boss attack timing were matching, as for QTE speed... I intentionally made it fast but doable which giving player a sense of urgency, but I do giving them a time to prepare or anticipated with those animation do I?

Anyway thanks for trying my game and the feedback as well!

Very confused of how to properly play the game but it looks fun, and the bit I was able to get done felt good!

Developer(+1)

I don't know whether you check my game page or not and yeah I didn't made the tutorial due to a time limit but I do put the instruction on the game page, it listed all skills, as well as how to use parry, warp(blink), special attacks, and explains many more game mechanic like hiding in the underground, freezeing the boss, etc.

Anyway thanks for the try!

Honestly, I have no idea what I am doing even after looking up the controls.

All I'll say is the game really needs a tutorial of some kind and some easing into the combat, maybe a practice fight against a near harmless slime. I can't even last more than 10 seconds against the first boss.

But either way its refreshing to see someone using rpg maker, if I recall these scripts look to be Moghunter's or of similar design.

Edit: I have come to realise that I should give your game a second chance and will likely do so tomorrow when I don't have a headache. However if there are any hints/tips you can provide that may improve my enjoyment of the game feel free to let me know.

Developer

I don't know whether you check my game page or not but yeah I didn't make tutorial because the time limit is pretty tight, my game has like 16 skills if we total them all its actually 46 (if we included style moves as well) making tutorial about them are likely took a week and again I don't have the time, I even missed one boss.

But of course I aware about that and leave a guide or instructions on the game page about how to distribute the stats, explaining all skills description, game mechanics like special attacks, Crystal Support, and many more, I actually planned to put these too in the game folder in case someone missed it but the upload is already locked.

Anyway thanks for giving my game a try!

As for the tips, if you felt like the first boss movement speed is too fast then try to use Earthquake skill, it will messed the field but it's also slowing the boss down, and look for the Crystal as it can heal your HP/MP or provide buff, they randomly appears on the field but does not vanish until you get them, they also reappear in like around 10 second(you will hear a sparkling SFX whenever they appear), it's sounds cowardly but feel free to stalling when you're in a pinch.

For the second boss... Freezing her with IceDozer work wonder but she sometimes can counter IceDozer so I suggest to build up Stylish Meter to Savage and spam her with Ice Fang(Special Version of IceDozer), the freezing time increases due to a location and weather being either snow or snowstorm but of course your freezing time is also increases so avoid or parry her Ice Lances otherwise you will be the one going down.

Once you beat the 1st and 2nd you are already a skilled so there's no tips for 3rd and the last boss.

So I've given it a second go, and all I can say is its too complex for a jam game.

I won't say being complex is bad, only in this case it feels like I'm going against what's meant to be end game level bosses as a level 1 player. And I'm not talking stats. Ok yes, first time I played I didn't even know I was meant to use the stat stones and would constantly die in 1-2 hits.

But even with better stats I don't 'understand' when or how to use my skills and my fingers are simply fumbling to hit the right keys at the right time. Its a simply a skill issue, or lack of skill to be more precise.

I won't say its a bad game now that I have a better understanding of what you were going for; but I will say it has a very steep learning curve that would better suit a longer more narrative driven game that gradually eases you in, slowly introducing new skills and mechanics as the game goes.

Developer

That's fine, this is my first jam, I never joined one before because most of them only last like 3~7 days which is impossible for me to compile the running prototype.

With zero experience obviously I don't even know what I'm doing and give it a go when I saw this jam last for month.

Anyway thanks for the feedback, I'll use it for the future reference.

For your first jam it is a good attempt and I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. Everything is a learning experience and we learn best from our mistakes.

This is my 10th or so jam and I'm still learning things from mistakes and oversights of my own.

You've got to start somewhere.

Great job on this one! The atmosphere, gameplay, and creativity really shine. The mechanics fit well within the game jam's constraints, and it’s impressive how much was accomplished in a short time. Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Developer

Haha, thanks!

so after like 30 min of pretending that my iq is higher than of an seashell i ended up enjoying game and almost beaten the first encounter, but now im about to change my dumbass "build" and try again. love the mechanics ,not sure if got use to all of them for now

Developer

Haha, thank you for trying my game!

I hope you're having fun!

Submitted(+1)

The difficulty curve is a bit too much, but I like the visuals, they remind me of older games like MapleStory. Nice work!

Developer

Haha, thank you for trying.

Also if you don't mind, let me know which is the boss that's too difficult for the sake of improvement, you can DM me if you seek privacy but you can also not telling me at all, I won't pry.

Anyway thanks again for your time.
