Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

It would be so good if the minimum GPU power limit can go as low as 5 watts since the GPU does support it.
For example, I need to limit my GPU power to 30 watts while playing on Type-C charger.
The BIOS limits the GPU power on battery to 30 watts on my laptop so it does support it.

@ExtraXcess hello,

Unfortunately that’s not possible. Asus firmware responsible for this has own ranges, and what you see is already a minimum.

You can achieve similar effect by restricting Maximum Core Clock tho (pick value experimentally)

Thanks and good luck

Yea, I was thinking of Maximum Core Clock too, but some games utilize more GPU, and some other utilize more VRAM, so in some it may use more power, and in some other less than of my goal power limit.

Shame to ASUS that they put a feature and put a limit on it. They also put a 75 degree temperature limit for RAM on my laptop while it is designed to work at 115 degree, can you believe how much bad they are! (actually you do, by making a better app than Armoury Crate and MY ASUS which has more features and less bugs. xD)

I try to email them about the Minimum GPU Power limit and maybe they add lower ranges, After I can fix the RAM issue with them.

Anyway thanks for your clear answering and for recommendation.

Thought I would add a resource I found online related to this topic.

This data can be a guide for limiting the GPU power by the Max Core Clock.

Please let me know if this calibration works.

@Dr-Tobias Sorry for late reply. I was busy.

It depends on the workload, as some workloads put more stress on GPU or even VRAM.

Let me show you in a few examples:
I set GPU Core Clock limit to 675 MHz, so the GPU uses 30 Watts in GTA 5, But it doesn't in every other workload.

GTA SA: 19 Watts
GTA 4: 29.1 Watts
GTA 5: 30 Watts
Cyberpunk 2077 (RT overdrive): 33.7 Watts
FurMark (2X MSAA): 37.1 Watts

And another problem is Dynamic Boost Becomes useless, as you are clock limited and never hit power limit.

So you either use more than the goal power, if you use heavy workloads on GPU and at the same time CPU running at power limit. Or use less power if use light workloads on GPU and CPU running at low power, which decreases your performance, since GPU is clock limited can't go higher clocks to hit the power limit and can't give you more performance and CPU can't share its Dynamic Boost power to your GPU since your GPU didn't hit power limit to ask extra power from CPU.
