I had my own free account for a few years. Later I joined a company that was using GitHub Enterprise. While with that company I had GitHub on my phone and a separate authenticator account and tool through the company. I was recently laid off which ended all of my access to the work tools on my phone. Since I could no longer access those tools I uninstalled them. The problem is that my personal account does not work with my personal authenticator now. It claims the codes aren't correct. I suspect it might be looking for the one from my previous work.
I was then working on trying to recover with no luck, so I added another email and I believe I had recovery codes. Then that machine died so well that I couldn't get data from it.
I am creating an entirely new account and have forked over what is the only useful code. I'm hoping setting up the 2FA again will work.
I'm mainly bringing this up as a warning to others to double check any personal accounts when you have a corporate account as well. I can't submit a bug to the Enterprise side of the team since I'm no longer with the company. I never used my personal one at work nor vice versa, plus no work resources could be accessed without going through their VPN.
Any additional suggestions are welcomed, but be aware I've already spent multiple days and many hours on this issue.
