As of at least 0.6, the variorum.pc file is being installed in the wrong directory. I am finding it in /usr/share/. But at least on RHEL systems, it should be installed in either /usr/share/pkgconfig or ${libdir}/pkgconfig/.
When it is installed in a path known to the pkgconf command, the following command should work:
$ pkgconf --modversion variorum
Package variorum was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `variorum.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

Hi @morrone Thanks for opening this issue on the Variorum end. I am on leave this week, and @slabasan is out until March 7, but we will take a look as soon as we can. Will update and open a PR on the LDMS end once we address this. Thank you for reviewing and helping!
