Zusammenfassung
Die zunehmende Bedeutung und Verbreitung von Plattform Ökosystemen beeinflusst insbesondere auch die IT-Industrie. Eine daraus resultierende Modularisierung ermöglicht eine stärkere Serviceorientierung von Infrastruktur- und Anwendungsarchitekturen insbesondere vor dem Hintergrund des Cloud Computing. Dabei ermöglicht das Plattform-Konzept den beteiligten Partnern die Erzeugung von jeweils größerem Mehrwert, als jeder Einzelne im Stande wäre (Value Co-Creation) hinsichtlich Effizienz oder verteilter Innovationen. Dahingehend soll im Rahmen dieses Artikels ein vertieftes Verständnis für Plattformen im Enterprise Software Segment erzeugt werden. Zunächst wird der Begriff der Cloud Plattform Ökosysteme konzeptualisiert werden und deren Funktionalitäten beschrieben. Darüber hinaus werden generische Wertschöpfungs- und Wertabschöpfungsmechanismen benutzt, um das Geschäftsmodell der Cloud Plattformen aus Sicht der Plattformbetreiber zu charakterisieren. Anschließend werden die verschiedenen Wertschöpfungsmechanismen für weitere beteiligte Akteure (B2B Endkunden, Entwickler/ISVs, Integratoren etc.) näher beleuchtet. Dabei stehen potentielle Handlungsfelder und Risiken im Fokus der Betrachtung, die anhand der generischen Mechanismen für die jeweiligen Akteure detailliert analysiert werden.
Abstract
The growing proliferation and dispersion of cloud platform ecosystems particularly impacts the IT industry. The resulting modularity enables an increased service orientation of infrastructure and application architectures, especially with respect to Cloud Computing. The combined offerings of Cloud platform ecosystems can exceed capacities and capabilities of what can be provided by any single company (value co-creation) considering efficiency or open innovation. Thus within the scope of this article we want to provide a detailed analysis of platforms within the enterprise software segment. At first, we will conceptualize the term cloud platform ecosystem and describe the associated functionalities. We will then utilize generic mechanisms for value creation and appropriation to analyze the business model of platform providers. Subsequently, we will describe the detailed value creation and appropriation mechanisms for the other actors within this segment (B2B users, developers/ ISVs, system integrators). In particular, we will focus on potential opportunities and associated risks derived by the generic mechanisms for each ecosystem role.
